The Tawny-browed Owl hunts from trees at night in the Atlantic Forest region.
Adults have a dark-brown back and head with a yellowish-cream belly. Cream eyebrows extend from above the eyes toward the bill across a brown facial disk, giving the face an X-like pattern; the eyes are dark brown and the bill ivory.
By day it hides among dense foliage; at night it hunts small mammals, birds, and large insects from a perch.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
