The Rifleman is a tiny forest bird endemic to New Zealand and feeds on insects and spiders. It keeps moving as it searches along trunks and branches.
Males have bright green heads and backs, while females are yellow-brown with darker speckles. Both have pale gray underparts and a slender bill angled slightly upward.
It searches for small insects and spiders while moving up and down tree trunks and through the canopy. Foraging pairs stay close and keep in contact with frequent calls.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
