This apalis inhabits lowland forest in central Africa. Reichenow's 1896 description records a male with a black throat and white throat tufts; a separate species account describes its forest habitat and branch gleaning.
Reichenow's 1896 description of the male gives a slate-gray head, a black fore-throat, and silky white tufts below the throat. The back and tail are olive green; the underparts are white with olive-washed flanks.
It is recorded in forest from lowlands to about 1,800 m and searches dense vegetation and branches for invertebrates.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
