The Chestnut-capped Warbler is associated with forest and second-growth habitat in Central America. A 2020 paper treated the delattrii group as a subspecies group of the Rufous-capped Warbler and compared its adult plumage and range.
In the paper’s adult comparison, the delattrii group has a chestnut crown and ear-coverts, a small white spot below the eye, and a yellow throat and belly.
The 2020 paper associates the delattrii group with dry to semi-humid deciduous forest and second growth, including coffee plantations.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
