Roberts's Serotine was described from Madagascar. The 2012 original paper used the genus name Neoromicia robertsi, while the current Mammal Diversity Database accepts Laephotis robertsi.
The three specimens in the original description had shaggy, dark chocolate-brown fur on both back and underside; some hairs on the upper chest looked lighter. The wing membranes, ears, and tragus were blackish brown.
The holotype was captured in a clearing surrounded by relatively intact montane forest near Anjozorobe, Antananarivo Province. Two other specimens came from an open agricultural area with banana trees in eastern Madagascar.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
