This flycatcher uses palm stands in the Amazon region of South America. Its olive-brown upperparts contrast with bright yellow underparts.
The upperparts are olive brown and the head gray. The dingy whitish throat and upper breast have faint dusky streaks; the rest of the underparts are bright yellow.
It forages in the canopy of stands of Mauritia flexuosa palms; the species account identifies this as its foraging setting.
