The Lomami red colobus occurs in central DRC between the Lomami and Lualaba rivers. Its description contrasts reddish and black fur with greyish-white underparts and shoulder patches. The IUCN assessment reports primary forest records but says field studies of behavior and ecology are absent.
Groves describes a dark face with narrow pale zones, a black browband and long black ear-base tufts. The outer body and limbs are reddish, hands and feet black, and the underside and shoulder patch greyish white.
The IUCN assessment reports no field studies of the species' behavior or ecology. It describes primary terra firma forest and possibly older secondary forest, including a sighting in primary forest in the upper Lutanga basin.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
