Hayden's Shrew is recorded on the North American Great Plains. Its long, flexible snout and two-coloured tail are useful identifying features.
The snout is long and flexible. The back is brown to gray, the underside silvery to white, and the tail is darker above than below.
It is recorded in prairie and is described as active year-round. Detailed diet records are lacking; feeding on small invertebrates and use of moist patches are presented as possibilities.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
