The southern spotted skunk has white stripes and spots against a dark coat. It occurs from southern Mexico, outside the Yucatán Peninsula, south to Costa Rica.
The upper pair of white stripes runs along the middle of the back, then branches sideways across the hips.
It is presumed to be nocturnal and uses rocky places, brush, woodland, thickets, and grassland. Reported foods include insects, small mammals, amphibians, and wild fruits.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
