This green toucanet has a blue breast band and a chestnut-red rump. It forages for fruit and other food in humid mountain forest on the eastern Andes.
The adult male is dark green, with a white throat, a blue band across the chest, and a chestnut-red rump. It also has a pale eyebrow edged in blue and a mostly black bill.
It forages alone, in pairs, or in small groups, usually in the canopy and sometimes lower in the forest. Fruit is its main food, with insects and other small arthropods also eaten.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
