This dove has older records from southeastern Brazil, eastern Paraguay and Misiones, Argentina. Historical accounts link it to bamboo and forest edges and describe ground feeding, but they do not establish present occupancy.
An older species account describes two copper-chestnut wing bars and white outer tail feathers in males; females are brown with violet or sepia wing bars.
Historical reports place it at Parana forest edges and in bamboo stands, moving on the ground and feeding on bamboo seeds and fruit.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
