The Collared Crow is black with a broad white collar. It occurs mainly in lowland and wetland areas of China and is often seen alone, feeding on insects, molluscs, other invertebrates, and grain.
Most of the plumage is black with a purplish, bluish, or greenish gloss. A broad white collar extends from the nape over the upper mantle and sides of the neck to the lower breast. The sexes are similar.
It favors wetlands, rice fields, low river valleys, and coastal areas. It is usually solitary and eats insects, molluscs, other invertebrates, and grain.
