This small rat has been recorded in Timor's montane forest. Only one live specimen is known, and little is known about how it lives.
It is a small rat weighing 112 g, with a two-colored tail whose underside is white. The original description also notes a long, narrow snout.
No information is available on its food, breeding, activity, or movements. The HMW account says only one live-caught specimen is known and calls for further study.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
