Sanford’s Sea Eagle is a large raptor found in the Solomon Islands. Observations recorded birds, flying foxes, and large skinks among its prey.
Adults and juveniles differ in plumage. Historical records confused it with juvenile White-bellied Sea Eagles, and morphological differences have been discussed in taxonomic studies.
Observations on five Solomon Islands recorded swiftlets, flying foxes, and large skinks as prey. The eagle was also observed along coasts and in lowland and montane forests.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
