Octodon bridgesii is a degu native to Chile. A Chilean species profile describes it in dense scrub and rocky places, where it nests in vegetation or rock cavities. The current Mammal Diversity Database treats the Chilean population as O. bridgesii and separates some populations included under older, broader classifications as O. ricardojeda.
The coat is ochre with gray areas and white patches beneath the forelimbs and near the hind legs. It has large ears, a straight tail ending in a tuft, and pale feet.
The Chilean profile reports nests in shrubs, grass, or holes among rocks. Around Concepción it describes the animal as nocturnal and agile at climbing.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
