The Azure Gallinule is a small wetland rail with a yellowish frontal shield and bill, blue-green wings, and a white belly. It searches for seeds and small animals in floating vegetation in northern South America.
The frontal shield and bill are pale greenish yellow, and the wing coverts are blue-green. The back is brownish and the underparts are white.
It picks seeds and small animals among plants at the water surface. It hides its nest in dense marsh vegetation, and both sexes incubate the eggs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
