Its violet-blue head and breast, green back, and yellow belly make this trogon easy to recognize. It perches high in the tropical forests of northern South America.
The male has a violet-blue head and breast, a green back, and a yellow belly, with a yellow eye-ring. The female is grayer across the head, breast, and back, and her belly is a paler yellow.
It often stays in the middle and upper canopy of tropical forest. From a branch it may drop to the ground for insects, and it also eats fruits and berries.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
