The California Thrasher is a large thrasher of California chaparral. It searches for food on the ground beneath dense shrubs, sweeping leaf litter with its bill.
It is a lanky songbird with a long tail and deeply curved bill. Both sexes sing from shrub tops and sometimes duet.
It sweeps its bill through leaf litter for prey. During the rainy breeding season it eats mostly insects and other arthropods; late in summer it eats more berries. Pairs maintain territories year-round.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
