The Double-banded Sandgrouse lives in dry grassland and open woodland in southern Africa, feeding for seeds on the ground. The sexes differ in breast and forehead markings.
Males have black-and-white bands on the forehead, while females show bars on the upper breast. The plumage descriptions need to be read by sex.
It feeds mainly on seeds, often in the early morning or late afternoon, and may move locally to find water.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
