The shrew gymnure is a small mammal that is active on the ground at night in mountain forests. It occurs in southwestern China, northeastern Myanmar, and northern Vietnam.
One female collected in Guangdong had a head-and-body length of 126 mm and a tail length of 78 mm, so its body was longer than its tail.
It is nocturnal and terrestrial and feeds on insects. Its limited dispersal means that mountain topography and habitat fragmentation can restrict movement between populations.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
