This small marsupial is recorded on the eastern Andean slopes of southern Ecuador. Specimens examined for its 2013 description came from cloud forest, but the authors said sampling was too limited to define its range limits.
Its back is grizzled brownish gray, while the underside is cream to pale gray. It lacks a dark chest spot, and its tail is bicolored, with a very dark upper side and a drab brown underside.
Specimens in the species description were collected in cloud forest in Ecuador's Sangay National Park. They came from surveys along a road, so this record does not show that the species is limited to that site.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
