The Angolan dasymys is a species of swamp rat known from Angola's highlands. After the original type specimen was lost, a taxonomic study designated a specimen from Huambo Province as a neotype.
A 2003 comparative study reported that this species had the largest skull among the Dasymys specimens it examined.
A 2003 review of the literature says many Dasymys are associated with wet places and are mainly terrestrial and nocturnal.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
