Males have a short comb of hairs on the front of their long jaws.
In the described male and female, the legs have darker rings. The abdomen is mottled greyish brown and beige, with three pairs of humps on its back.
Austrarchaea alani occurs in rainforest with emergent eucalypts. Males, females and juveniles were collected from elevated leaf litter. In the described male, carapace height was 2.41 mm and length 1.06 mm, giving a side profile more than twice as high as long. Its highest point lies near the rear of the head, which slopes gently forward.
Major specimens used in the 2011 revision were collected at two Kroombit Tops sites on 26 October 2010: a creek crossing at 799 metres and rainforest near Munholme Creek at 753 metres. The researchers genotyped five individuals to complement morphology. Their specimen lists distinguish adults from juveniles and mark the sequenced individuals, preserving links between field collections and later comparisons.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
At Kroombit Tops, feral pigs, invasive plants and fire are management concerns. The 2013 regional management statement extended in May 2026 describes vegetation disturbance by pigs and lantana hindering rainforest regeneration. It sets out continuing pig monitoring and control and excluding fire from fire-sensitive rainforest and vine-thicket communities. These are regional habitat-management measures.
