The Orangequit lives in Jamaican forests and wooded farmland. Males and females have different plumage.
Males are dark and bluish with a red-orange throat, while females are browner.
It takes nectar, fruit, seeds, and small invertebrates.
In May 2000 at Silver Hill, Jamaica, a nest about 6 m above ground in a tree fork was loosely woven from bamboo leaves and small woody vines and lined with moss.
At the Silver Hill nest in May 2000, two nestlings were visited by both sexes, and the female repeatedly returned to feed them.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
