This cuckooshrike lives in forests of the northern Philippines. This entry follows the current name *Edolisoma coerulescens* rather than the pool's older genus combination.
The male is black with a blue gloss on the head and back. The female is dark slate-gray, with a blackish face and tail.
It is reported from lowland forest and secondary growth, using the canopy and upper understory and sometimes moving in small groups.
