This cicadabird is endemic to San Cristóbal (Makira) in the Solomon Islands. The account lists Edolisoma salomonis and the former genus combination Coracina salomonis. An older Clements treatment grouped it with the Sahul Cicadabird.
Males are grey with black lores and a black tail. Females have similar upperparts but unbarred rich tawny-rufous underparts.
It uses forest and secondary forest and forages in dense foliage, alone in pairs or in groups of three. It sometimes joins mixed-species flocks, especially with drongos.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
