The Duke of Abruzzi's Free-tailed Bat is a small bat. MDD currently lists it as Mops aloysiisabaudiae, with scattered records across western and central Africa in forests and savannas.
The short back fur ranges from chocolate brown to dark rusty brown; an orange-rust phase also occurs. The underside is paler, and a prominent band between the ears projects forward over the muzzle.
It is nocturnal. Many individuals have been netted over water or clearings; one was found by day in a crevice in a tree trunk. Records span forest and savanna habitats.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
