The Malagasy Brush Warbler is common in suitable cover on Madagascar and is also recorded on Mohéli. Checklists differ over whether the Anjouan Brush Warbler belongs in the same species.
At 17–18 cm, it has olive-brown upperparts, a pale eyebrow extending behind the eye, and yellowish-buff underparts with faint gray breast streaks.
It eats insects and forages in bushes and dense shrubbery, sometimes on the ground. It is usually alone or in pairs and is described as sedentary.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
