The Brown Skua is a large seabird that breeds on islands south of New Zealand and may pursue other seabirds at sea.
It is a heavy-set brown bird with broad pointed wings and a white patch on the outer wing. The sexes look alike, but females are larger.
During breeding, it feeds on penguin eggs and chicks, petrels and other birds. At sea, it may chase albatrosses and petrels until they disgorge food.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
