Townsend's vole lives in wet meadows and wetlands along the Pacific coast of North America. It eats mostly grasses, with seasonal changes in its diet.
Its body is gray-brown to brown, with paler underparts, and it has a furred tail.
Grasses are a main food, while roots, bulbs, and seeds are eaten or cached more in late summer and fall. Burrow entrances may be placed close to water.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
