This bat is known from Bala Forest in southern Thailand. The species description was based on two specimens.
The dorsal hairs are dark gray at the base and orange-reddish brown toward the tips, with longer shiny golden hairs scattered across the back.
The two specimens were caught in moist evergreen forest at Bala: one in a harp trap across a forest trail and one in a trap set in dense lowland understory.
