The king rat is a large rodent from Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. Records are few, and much about its diet and reproduction remains unknown.
Its back has short, coarse-looking gray fur that contrasts with a white underside. It has short ears, broad naked feet, and a long, rough-looking tail.
It is arboreal and has been encountered around dusk. It is also recorded in small remnants of forest, but its diet and reproduction are not known in detail.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
