The Alto Shrew is a high-elevation shrew from Mexico. Its mixed gray and pale buff hairs give the back an overall medium-brown appearance. Records include pine–oak–juniper woodland and moist mountain canyons.
Hairs on the back are silvery gray near the base, white or pale blond in the middle, and dark brown at the tips, creating an overall medium-brown appearance. The belly hairs are silvery gray near the base with pale blond tips.
At high elevations, records come from pine–oak–juniper woodland, yellow-pine and alder woodland, and moist mountain canyons.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
