The black tamarin is a small monkey with golden-brown streaks in its black coat. It moves through the canopy by day, feeding mainly on fruit in family groups.
Most of its body is covered in glossy black fur, with golden-brown streaks running down the back toward the base of the tail. Much of the area around the eyes, nose, and ears is hairless.
It is diurnal and moves through trees, feeding mostly on fruit. Family groups of about four to sixteen forage and rest together.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
