The Cape Canary is a small finch of open habitats and gardens in southern Africa. It eats seeds and nests in shrubs and other vegetation during the breeding season.
Yellow is prominent on the head, while the body is grey to olive. Males are more brightly colored than females.
It eats grass seeds and other seeds, sometimes foraging in groups, and builds a nest from grasses and fine plant material.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
