This small shrew lives in scattered populations across the mountains of central Europe. It uses shelter beneath rocks and branches and climbs with help from its long tail.
Its back is blue-black, and it has a slender pointed muzzle and a tail nearly as long as its body.
It is active at night and eats insects, spiders, snails, and earthworms. In mountain conifer woods and damp valleys, it uses cover among rocks and plants.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
