The Black-eared Fairy is a hummingbird with a long, mostly white tail, white underparts, and a dark line behind the eye. In Bolivia it is recorded in humid forest and feeds on nectar.
Most of the long tail is white, and the underparts are pure white. A dark line behind the eye contrasts with the green body.
In Bolivia, records include humid forest in Amazonia, mainly on terra firme, as well as lower Yungas. It feeds from mid-levels to the canopy and can pierce the tubes of large flowers to take nectar.
