The Yellow-billed Turaco lives in forests of western and central Africa. Its green and blue-violet plumage is striking; it moves along branches and feeds mainly on fruit.
Adults have a green head, neck, and chest, blue-violet back, wings, and tail, and a crimson wing band. The thick bill is bright yellow with a red base. The verreauxii subspecies differs in crest-tip and upperpart color.
It is sedentary and mainly arboreal, running and hopping between branches. Fruit makes up most of its diet, with seeds, young shoots, snails, and insects also reported.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
