The Sao Tome Green Pigeon is restricted to Sao Tome Island in the Gulf of Guinea. It feeds on fruit high in forest canopies and also uses forest-edge plantations.
The head, neck, and most of the underside are greenish gray, while the back and wings are dark olive green. A dark mauve patch marks the bend of the wing, and the undertail-coverts are chestnut. The sexes look similar.
It is mainly frugivorous and feeds high in the canopy. A study on Sao Tome recorded it in old-growth and secondary forest, forest edges, and shaded coffee and cocoa plantations, where it fed on fruits including Ficus.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
