The Red Wattlebird is a large honeyeater with a reddish fleshy wattle at the side of its neck. It feeds mainly on nectar, along with insects and fruit.
Its body is gray-brown with prominent white streaks and yellow on the belly. The face is pale, and its long tail has a white tip. Young birds are duller and have a smaller, paler wattle.
It probes flowers for nectar, takes insects from foliage or catches them in flight, and also eats berries and honeydew. It may defend food-bearing plants from other honeyeaters.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
