The Unspotted Saw-whet Owl has a rounded head without ear-tufts and a brown facial disc edged in white. It is nocturnal and occurs in mountain forests from southern Mexico into Central America. Details of its diet and breeding remain poorly known.
The brown facial disc is paler around the eyes and edged with whitish feathers. The eyebrows, chin, and lores are pale; the back is earth-brown, the breast cinnamon-brown, and the belly pale buff.
It is a solitary, nocturnal owl of montane and cloud forests with oaks and pines, using the canopy and forest edge. Its diet is not well studied; small mammals are considered likely prey.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
