A thrush found across western Timor, Timor-Leste, and southern Sulawesi. It is one of the species recognized from the Island Thrush split and includes several island forms.
Cornell's checklist update summarizes the species as brownish above with rufous lower underparts. In Timor, the West Timor form was described with greenish-grey upperparts, while the East Timor form has darker chestnut-brown upperparts and chest.
At Mount Mutis in West Timor, a field observer found an adult returning to sit on a nest in a vertical fissure of a mature eucalyptus tree, and a recently fledged young bird on a nearby branch. The site was mature eucalyptus woodland with a sparse understory.
The nest was a cup of small sticks and bark, lined with grass, moss, and feathers. The paper summarizes the Timor breeding period as roughly November through May for the island's two forms combined.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
