The White-capped Fruit Dove is endemic to the Marquesas Islands. Head and chest colors vary among islands, and it feeds mainly on fruit.
The sexes look alike. It has a white crown, green wings, yellowish underparts, and an orange belly patch. Birds on southern islands have pale green head, chest, and back, while those in the north are greyish.
It lives in forests in low valleys and eats fruit. It also uses flowers and nectar; breeding has been recorded throughout the year.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
