Bergmans's Collared Fruit Bat was described from southeastern Kenya and northeastern Tanzania, and was later recorded in Zimbabwe.
The original description gives reddish-brown fur on the back and pale fawn fur underneath. A throat ruff was present in the adult male specimen but absent in the female specimen examined.
The original specimen was caught in a net over a river at about 10 p.m. The author suggested it might be a forest species.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
