Chevrier’s field mouse is distributed in China. Wild records include a historical specimen series from western Sichuan and a small-mammal survey in Yunnan.
In a historical western Sichuan series, the back and sides were ochraceous buff with black hairs mixed throughout. The underside was gray, the tail was bicolored, and the feet were whitish.
A comparison of two Yunnan landscapes found it among the dominant small mammals in mountainous uncultivated land. In cultivated flatland, it was less abundant than the brown rat.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
