This bat is recorded from the Southern Highlands of New Guinea. A series of specimens came from a cave near Tualapa, although the paper notes uncertainty about its taxonomy and broader ecology and distribution.
The series from a cave near Tualapa was described as a relatively small Miniopterus, with a 40–47 mm forearm and relatively long 16–19 mm tibiae.
The survey obtained a series from a cave near Tualapa. This confirms a local cave collection, but the paper does not establish roost use or population size across the species' range.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
