This tarsier occurs on the Togean Islands off Central Sulawesi. It was described as a distinct species in 2019, and a characteristic duet call made by a male and female is reported.
Adults have dark gray facial fur and darkly pigmented skin, especially on the tail. The terminal tail tuft is not reduced as it is in some related species.
In the described duet, one female call is followed by two or three male calls. The female note is a whistle that falls in pitch.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
