The Rufous Scrub-bird forages on the forest floor in damp forests of eastern Australia.
It is stocky, with dark rufous-brown, scaly-patterned plumage, a pale throat, and a long rounded tail.
It tosses aside deep, damp leaf litter to find snails and insects. Males call more during the breeding season.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
