Gaumer's spiny pocket mouse is endemic to Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. Records show it eating land snails as well as seeds.
It carries food in cheek pouches. Land snails were found in the pouches during a study in Yucatán.
At the study site, females used land snails more often in the dry season, while males did so more often in the rainy season.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
