This rodent is known from a salt flat in Catamarca, northwestern Argentina. It has golden-blond dorsal fur and a pale cream underside.
The back is golden blond, the underside pale cream, and the tail tip has a rufous tuft.
The original description reports burrows in saline shrubland, including burrows beneath Heterostachys plants.
